Violet Gulstad

Violet Gulstad, age 86, of Glenfield, ND, died January 23, 2017, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

Violet B. Bredahl was born October 16, 1930, in Kensal, ND, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Engebretson) Bredahl. She was raised in rural Kensal and graduated from Carrington High School.

She was united in marriage to Stanley Gulstad on October 12, 1955, in Kensal. They lived and farmed in rural Glenfield, ND, where they raised four sons and a daughter. Stanley passed away December 10, 2000, and Violet stayed on the farm until late 2016, when her health issues required assisted care.

Violet loved her family, loved life on the farm, and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cards, baking, and cooking. She liked watching western movies and sports on TV. Her favorite team to watch was the Minnesota Twins, and she especially enjoyed NBA basketball.

Violet is survived by her children, Gary (Char), Glenfield, Ron, Glenfield, Craig, Glenfield, and Karen (Steve) Busek, Bismarck; daughter-in-law Terri Gulstad, Prior Lake, MN; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, son, Rick, her parents, Henry and Bessie, her sister, Doris, and her brothers, Calver and Edwin.
