Marvel Lindstrom

Marvel Eleanor Lindstrom, 93, Glenfield, ND, died Tuesday, April 25, 2018, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND

Marvel Eleanor Ellingson was born October 9, 1924, in Cooperstown, ND, to Fanual and Marie (Stangeland) Ellingson.  She was baptized and confirmed in the James River Lutheran Church and grew up on the family farm.  She attended grade school in a Haven Country school and attended high school in Grace City graduating in 1943.  She received her teaching degree from Valley City State College in 1953.  Marvel taught in several schools including Glenfield, Hatton, Carrington, Rugby, and rural schools in Foster County.

Marvel married Glenn Niles Lindstrom June 17, 1962, at the James River Lutheran Church.   Glenn and Marvel then started a cattle and grain farm in the James River valley known as the Lindstrom Cattle Ranch.  They had two children Leanne and Byron.

Marvel was an exceptional cook and baker and was especially known for her home made buns.  Nothing was better than a warm bun right out of the oven with butter and her homemade Chokecherry jelly.  She also had a very green thumb.  A passerby would often honk as they saw Marvel in one of her two gardens.  She loved to read, scrap book, sew, embroider dishtowels for gifts, and raise beautiful African Violets.  It was not unusual for her to have 60 to 70 plants around the house.  She loved to take pictures and everyone who visited would have to get their picture taken for her photo album.   In her later years she took up quilting and produced hundreds of quilts for her churches’ charity.  She attended and was very active in Grace City Lutheran Church, Grace City, ND.

She is survived by daughter Leanne (Scott) Butt,  grandsons Brady Glenn, and Brooks Robert all of Crookston, MN, son Byron of Fargo, sister Lillian Pederson of Carrington, brothers Frank (Jean) Ellingson, and Elroy (Joann) Ellingson all of Glenfield; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 2007, after 44 years of marriage and a brother Clifford Ellingson.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 12PM – 7PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM all in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Funeral Service will be he held Monday, April 30, 2018 at 2:00PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington.

Burial will be at James River Cemetery, Glenfield, ND.
