Loyd A. Leichtman

Loyd A. Leichtman, age 72, of McHenry, ND, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND, following a long fought battle with cancer.

Loyd Arlan Leichtman was born on November 12, 1939, in New Rockford, ND, the son of Ralph and Esther (Merrick) Leichtman. He attended country school in Cherry Lake Township thru the 8th grade. High School was spent in Grace City, and Loyd graduated in 1958. He was in 4-H for eleven years. Loyd has lived on the same farm all his life, working hard. Farming was his whole life. He did enjoy hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and square dancing (for many years). He spent lots of time teaching his little “boys” how to fix things in the shop.

Loyd was united in marriage to Joann Gauderman on June 9, 1962 in Grace City, ND.

He is survived by his wife, Joann; two daughters, Jerilyn Rethemeier, Grand Forks, ND and Angela (Steve) Williams, Wahpeton, ND; one son, Michael (Paula) Leichtman, McHenry, ND; eight grandchildren, Amanda & Christopher Rethemeier, Paige & Lindsay Williams, Ethan, Tyler, Levi and Grace Leichtman; and a sister, Joan (Dewey) Heckaman, New Rockford.

Loyd was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy, and his parents.

Message: Joann, So sorry to hear of your loss. I just heard by way of Gary and Dori Topp, who I keep in touch with. They live in Everett, WA. and I live south about 40 miles in Kent, WA. I am praying for you and know how you must feel. I lost my husband 16 years ago. He was much too young. I will keep you in my prayers and pray God will provide you with strength and comfort in the coming days, weeks, and months.
