They then moved to Valley City and Fred retired in 1988. In 1993 they moved back to Carrington. Fred cared for Blanche for many years before she died on May 20, 1998. Fred continued to live in Carrington until 2016, when he moved into New Rockford’s Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd for a short time. He then moved to Breckenridge in 2017, to be closer to family.

Fred’s life was the railroad. He enjoyed bowling, baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins. He spent time playing cards, pool, bingo, and visiting at the Senior Citizens Center. Fred had a great sense of humor.

Message: Mark,

My deepest sympathies in the passing of your dad. I remember your mom and dad well and in the later years in Carrington, when I would walk at the armory during inclement weather, your dad was there walking at his pace. It's never easy to lose a parent.

So very sorry for your loss.  Seems like yesterday that Uncle Fred was out playing catch with us with a baseball.  He was always willing to play catch... never too busy.  May you find peace in his passing.  Bless each of you.
