Sandi Anderson

Sandi Anderson, age 67, of Kensal, ND, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND, after a long fight with cancer.

Sandra Kay Toft was born on April 10, 1954, in Fergus Falls, MN to Warren and Mary (Danzeisen) Toft of Brandon, MN. She was the second child of six. Her childhood years were spent playing cards and going fishing with her siblings and lots of cousins. Sunday afternoons were always spent playing cards with aunts, uncles, and her cousins. There were always at least two tables of Whist players and a table of Rummy or “21”.

Her teenage years were spent running around with her favorite cousins Ernie, Donny, and Judy (Danzeisen) Fosberg. The four of them could always be found at teen dances in Barret, Glenwood, or Alex ballrooms or partying at local street dances. Throughout the summers, Ernie and Donny would always watch out for the two younger girls.

After graduation, she started working in area nursing homes as an aide, which she did throughout her working years.

One of her highlights was a live-in caretaker for a school teacher, who was stricken with Polio, and confined to a wheelchair, in Fort Morgan, CO.

She met Marv in Lowry in 1979, and they were united in marriage on March 21, 1981 at Grace Lutheran Church, Brandon, MN. Together they had three sons and a daughter, Daniel, (Leigh and Katie who both passed away at birth), and Darrick.

She was always ready to take off and travel or go camping, which quite often would include two nieces, Amber and Ashley. Fort Lincoln State Park was her favorite camp ground. Her travels included trips to Texas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, and of course all of Minnesota and North Dakota.

In February of 2018, Sandi made her first trip to Arizona with Marv and they bought their retirement property in the desert. She made her last trip there in late April, early May of 2021, after spending sixteen days in the hospital in Carrington. She loved her time in Arizona and it was on her mind right until the end.

Sandi is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Mary (Danzeisen) Toft; her sister, Elizabeth Toft; her children, Leigh and Katie Anderson.

Sandi is survived by her husband, Marvin of Kensal, ND; sons, Daniel of Glenwood, MN, and Darrick (girlfriend Amy) of Glenwood, MN; sister Anna May Michael, Eugene, OR, sister, Donna (Roger) Toft-Grev, Columbus, OH, brother Jon (Judy) Toft, Brainerd, MN, sister, Carolyn (Ray) Mohrmann, Evansville, MN; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 5:30 – 7:30PM at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND and will continue on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Evansville, MN.

Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Brandon, MN.

Her Burial will be at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Brandon, MN.

  4. I worked with Sandi at Walmart in Jamestown, ND. She was such an awesome lady to be around. I don’t believe I ever saw her without a smile on her face. I believe that came from having such a wonderful family and enjoying work or projects she took on. I am so glad I got to know her.
