Peter “Pete” Kuntz

Peter M “Pete” Kuntz, age 85, of New Rockford, ND, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Sanford, Bismarck, ND.

Peter Matthias Kuntz was born May 9, 1937, to Gregor and Monica (Reichert) Kuntz at Dickinson, ND. He graduated from Model High School in Dickinson N.D. in 1956. Pete was Honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy where he served from 1957 to 1961. On November 25, 1964, Pete was united in marriage to Mary E. Smith at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson N.D. Pete retired from the North Dakota Highway Patrol on April 30, 1999. He had a part time upholstery business where he was well known for his furniture upholstery and refinishing talents. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, muzzleloader rifle shooting, model airplanes and spending time with his family.

Pete is survived by his wife Mary Kuntz, his sons Shawn (Carmen) and Scott (Judy) Kuntz, and four grandchildren Hannah, Emily, Levi, and Ally Kuntz.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gregor and Monica Kuntz, stepfather Joseph Jaeger, five brothers John, Jack, Leo, Frank, George, four sisters Rose, Betty, Pauline, Christine and one grandson Bridger James Kuntz.

 

Pete’s Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2022 from 1:00PM-5:00PM at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford and continue from 6:00PM-7:00PM at St. John’s Catholic Church, New Rockford followed by a Rosary Service at 6:40PM and Vigil Service at 7:00PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial Service will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:00AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, New Rockford.

His Burial will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 16th at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan.

  2. I am so sorry about your dad. He was my favorite uncle. He was a very lucky man to have such a beautiful wife and two great sons. We will sure miss him.
