Alesia Shaw, 39, of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake, ND.

Alesia “Chubby” was born on Thanksgiving day November 24th, 1983, the 2nd of 4 daughters to Alex and Corrie Yankton. She grew up in the Fort Totten and Crow Hill area and attended Devils Lake Public Schools. She graduated from Four Winds High School with the class of 2002.

In her younger years, Alesia and her sister Alison stayed with grandpa Andy. They traveled to pow wows where they both danced jingle. Alesia shared the love of fishing with her grandpa Andy and inherited her dad’s mechanical skills. She was always watching and learning from him, eventually she started working on her own cars. Alesia had a very outgoing personality and grew up surrounded by many of her cousins on both sides of her family.

Alesia worked for a time for the Spirit Lake Casino where she met Kelsey Feather. They had 3 daughters, Andia, Alanis, and Alencia. Years later she moved to Fargo, ND where she had her one and only son Albie. Shortly after she returned home and worked other various jobs. Her favorite job was working for KABU radio, alongside Ken and John Chaske, who she had the utmost respect for.

Chubby had a love for dogs and at one time owned 8 (mostly puppies). She leaves behind her baby Riser and Rena.

Our beloved Chubby will be remembered for her big heart, always helping out when and wherever she could. She was always smiling, laughing, and joking around. We’ll miss that about her.

Alesia leaves behind her loving family – daughters, Andia and Alencia Feather; son, Albie Fassett; mother, Corrina Shaw; sisters, Alison Shaw, Alanna Youngbird, Alex Shaw and Heather Lawrence; brother, Alex Lawrence and many aunts and uncles on both sides of her family; grandparents, Ardis Shaw, Vincent (Adele) Shaw, Helena Littleghost and Aileen Littleghost and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She will be happily reunited with her daughter, Alanis Kinalynn Feather; father, Alex Yankton; grandfather, Andrew “Andy” Shaw and “THE BOYS”, her cousins, Tobias, Whalen, and Andrew Shaw.

Pallbearers: Jared Yankton ~ Bud Shaw ~ Joe Yankton ~ Delmer Youngbird Jr. ~ Alex Lawrence ~ Barry Mudgett ~ Marty Greywater ~ Alfred Littlewind Sr.

Honorary Bearers: Chanoa & Susie Fox, Jade Posey, Kateri Bullhead, Emmy Littlewind, Raylene Fineday, Kristy White, Felicia & Erica Graywater, Skye Yankton, Candy Herman Wretling, Erica Thompson, Adele Shaw, Bonnie & Monte Herman, Gandi (Erica) Shaw, Bryer Shaw, Eric Marquez, Delmer Youngbird Jr., John & Ramona Chaske, Ken Chaske, Sylvester Littlewind & Sons and Sid Knutson.  If we forgot to name anyone, forgive us it was not intentional.

Alesia’s Wake will be Sunday starting at 5:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at Crow Hill Rec. Center, Fort Totten, ND.

Friends wishing to join the procession from New Rockford to Fort Totten may gather on the St. Jerome’s road, Fort Totten, prior to 4:15PM.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10:00AM at Crow Hill Rec. Center, Fort Totten.

Her Burial will be at the Crow Hill Cemetery, Fort Totten.

  8. our hearts were saddened to hear the news of Alesia passing. She and I were on the New Ministry task force and was talking with her about what Young Life would look like up in Fort Totten. we shared some good laughs. She was such a gentle soul who really wanted to help other teens to make the most of their lives and to not throw their life away by drinking or using drugs. This hurts the heart. I can’t imagine how you all must be feeling right now. prayers up!
