In 1990, they left the farm and made New Rockford their home. Greg retired after 19 years at Dakota Growers Pasta Co. in Carrington as a forklift operator.

Over the years Greg enjoyed his large garden, listening to music, camping and fishing with his family. He also loved his Green Bay Packers. GO PACK GO! Greg was a proud grandpa to 5 lovely granddaughters. Those girls were his pride and joy the last 9 years.

Greg’s ashes will be scattered this summer at his family farm in Bowbells, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law; niece, Jessica; cousin, Thomas and several dear friends.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, aka “Hilda” married 40 years; his son, Ryan; his daughter, Candace (Peterson), his five granddaughters, Adrianna 17, Amelia 10, McKenna 8, Harlow 7, Melinna 6; his brothers, Jeff & Jerry of Bowbells, ND and Mike (Lori); nephew, Ian of Gillette, WY; sister-in-law, Betty (Kirk) of Lovell, WY and nephew, Alan (Autumn) and many dear friends.

Following the service, Greg would like to invite his friends and family to Buckit’s Bar for food, drinks, and his favorite music and to celebrate his life.

  1. My deepest condolences to Mary and your family.
I am so sorry to hear this news. Greg and I shared many heady experiences growing up while simply trying to find our way, and miraculously, somehow survived. The first of our graduating class to go over, I will miss him. RIP brother.

  2. Dear Mary and Family, so sorry to hear about Greg. Many fond memories flood my mind as I reflect on the 12 years we spent as classmates. We have lost touch over the years as we have both built our “grownup lives” but the memories remain! I have enjoyed the posts about your beautiful grandchildren, there is nothing that brings greater joy then our grandchildren and I’m sure Greg’s heart was full! May you and your family find comfort and peace in the memories you made with Greg as they become the true treasures of your 💕’s

  12. Greg Ross is a familiar name from when my husband Frank Davis worked at Dakota Growers. He made good friends there.

How ironic that I lost the love of my life the day before Greg’s passing. Now we live one day at a time and cherish our memories.

  14. To Mary and family–wishing you strength and peace in this time of sadness. As a cousin to Greg, we had lots of memories as kids but my fondest memories are when the cousins would get together and hang out up in the hay mow on our farm. Many summer hours were spent building forts and wrestling and laughing– a lot. Greg loved to laugh. We’ve got to believe heaven is a place of great joy and peace-and we all will journey forward living the best we can, keeping Greg’s memories alive– until we meet again.
