Dorothy Kracht
Dorothy Kracht, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at her home with her family at her side.
Dorothy Lee Miemietz was born on July 2, 1936, to Frank and Esther (Hust) Miemietz in Jamestown, ND. She attended school at St. John’s Academy in Jamestown, ND. On September 12, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth Kracht at St. James Basilica church in Jamestown.
They moved from Jamestown to Valley City; then in May of 1961, Kenneth and Dorothy moved to Carrington, where they raised their family. Dorothy worked at Valley City Hospital, Jack & Jill, Supervalu, and Nicolson Carr. Dorothy and her husband Ken purchased Kracht Implement in 1994. She worked in the business as the detail-oriented accountant until her passing. She was an avid card player at the casino and enjoyed playing pinochle. Dorothy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Altar Society.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Sharon) Kracht, Amarillo, TX, Dale Kracht, Carrington, Debra (Mike) VandeHoven, Carrington, Mary Jo (Eric) Paulson, Tehachapi, CA; her four-legged companion, Maggie; 12 Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Michelle (Rob) Rockey; brother, Duane (Carolyn) Miemietz; sisters-in-law, Edith Zerface and Grace Diede; brothers-in-law, Elmer Opatz And Jack Reuther.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a granddaughter, Jennifer Kracht; her parents; sisters, Joyce Buetow, Luella Croce, and Terri Opatz.
Dorothy’s Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 – 7:00PM with a Rosary Service at 6:45PM followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, ND.
Her Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.

Dorothy will be greatly missed. So enjoyed playing pinochle with her.
So sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. I always enjoyed visiting with her when I was getting parts or paying my bill. She will be missed.
