Keith Rost
Keith Eldore Rost, 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at his home in Jamestown, ND, surrounded by family.
Keith was born on September 22, 1946, in New Rockford, ND to Eldore and June (Severson) Rost of Cathay, ND. He attended grade school at Germantown Country School and graduated from Cathay High School in 1964. He graduated from NDSU in 1968 with a BS in German, later enlisting with the US Navy and serving aboard the USS Albacore from 1969 to 1972. After his honorable discharge, he went back to NDSU to obtain his pharmacy degree and was employed by the Public Health Service IHS in Fort Totten for many years as a staff pharmacist and later did contracting there. He also worked as a pharmacist in Harvey, New Rockford, Carrington, and Fort Yates, and farmed his parents’ land.
On May 27, 1973, Keith was united in marriage to Janice Myhre of rural Sheyenne at Grandfield Lutheran Church. They were blessed with four children: Heather, Sonja, Ethan, and Tyson.
Keith loved the farm. He enjoyed working the land, planting trees, and tinkering with his tractors. He also loved to socialize with his friends – going out to breakfast, meeting at the Bremen bar, fellowship over coffee after church, or just dropping by for a visit. He also had a passion for reading and listening to music.
Keith is survived by his wife, Janice, of 50 years; daughters, Heather (Ashley) Rost of Fargo, ND, and Sonja (Eric) Van Leeuwe of Marshall, MN; sons, Ethan of Carrington, ND, and Tyson of Cathay, ND; four grandchildren, Sophia and Lexi Van Leeuwe, and Hudson and Bodhi Rost; and brothers, Michael (Pam) Rost of Harvey, ND, Randy (Carla) Rost of Rolette, ND, and Robin Rost of Cathay, ND.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two grandchildren, Madison and Sheridyn Van Leeuwe.
Keith’s Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2023, 1:00-5:00PM with family present from 1:00-2:00PM at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, 2:00PM at Grandfield Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne, ND.

He was a great guy and a dear friend, to all that have met him. You couldn’t ask for a nicer man!
Always had a smile on his face and had time to stop and talk, even if just to say Hi.

May You Rest In Peace! When you catch up with my Dad, please paint the farmhouse. It would be easier for you guys since ya wouldn’t have to worry about falling off the roof LOL.

Janice and family, so sorry for the loss of Keith. We always enjoyed visiting with Keith. We remember the time he drove the tractor for us at harvest time and when your family visited our lake house. Lots of good memories were made with Keith and family. He be missed.
My heartfelt condolences to Keith’s family. I am so thankful for getting to know this man!. We enjoyed many conversations from politics to faith and his passion for farming and knowledge of old farm equipment was second to none. He sold me his old 820 JD with a catch to the deal “you have to promise to take good care of it” he said with a serious look and then a smile. He is going to be very missed.

I just seen the news of Keith’s passing. sending our sympathy and condolences to his family. Keith was such a caring, professional example of providing quality medical care during all his time helping people of Spirit Lake for many years. He was always a listener to his patients and would help them with his patience and understanding. He was not afraid to share his ideas on how we could improve our care for our clinic. God bless his loving family for sharing him for so many years with those who needed his expertise. RIP dear Friend.
A day with a visit from Keith was always a much better day. Terry and I will miss him so much, but his empty seat at church will be a constant reminder that he is now with the Father in peace. We truly had a firm connection with him and Janice and look forward to sharing our memories with his family and friends. May God help you through your grief and heal your hearts.
