Daniel Cavanaugh Jr.

Daniel Cavanaugh Jr., age 72, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at his home, Fort Totten, ND.

Daniel G. Cavanaugh Jr. was born July 25, 1952, the son of Daniel G. Cavanaugh Sr. and Christine Alex in Fort Totten, ND.  He attended Wahpeton Indian School in Wahpeton, ND during his elementary school years.  He received his GED in his later years.  Dan served in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged.  He was employed at the Four Winds School for many years, and retired in 2015.

Daniel is survived by his children, Daniel, Patrick, Jesse, and Jessica; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Luwanna Cavanaugh & family, Donna Jackson & family, Jeannie Cavanaugh & family, Marty Alex & family and (hunka brother), Laidman Fox Jr.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Danyell Faye Cavanaugh; his parents, Christine and Daniel Sr.; his eldest brother, Paul Yankton Jr.; his eldest sister, Danielle Cavanaugh Herald; nephew, James Michael Alex; niece, Marian Rose Alex; (hunka brother), Curtis Young Bear and brother, Donald Belgarde Sr.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the Red River Valley Team Navy and Spirit Lake EMT staff.

Daniel’s Wake/Visitation will be Wednesday, at 5:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at Crow Hill Wellness Center, Fort Totten, ND.

Friends wishing to join the procession from New Rockford to Fort Totten may gather on the St. Jerome’s road, Fort Totten, prior to 4:15PM.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10:00AM at Crow Hill Wellness Center, Fort Totten, ND.

His Burial will be at the St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, Fort Totten, ND.

I enjoyed your crazy sense of humor and yet you were serious when it came to your family and grandchildren. I looked forward to your phone calls to me at the school once in a while.
