Betty White, 92, died Sunday, February 23, 2020, in Mandan N.D.

Betty Jean Engle was born on September 13, 1927, to William C. and Edith M. (Jadin) Engle.  She married Frank White on November 25, 1949 in Jamestown. She lived on the family farm until 1987 when she moved to Carrington.  Betty was a dedicated mother and homemaker, delighting everyone with her caramel rolls, breads, and cookies.  She was a talented artist whose landscape and western scenes adorn the walls of her family and friends.  Betty was known to amuse us with her blunt, dry wit. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church until health issues caused her to move to Mandan in 2014.

Betty is survived by five children: Nancy White (Tom Knapp), Moorhead, MN, Bill White, Carrington, ND, Steve White, Carrington, ND, Tom (Marcie) White, Mandan, ND, and Lisa White, Moorhead, MN; grandsons Levi McCormick (Krista), John Zearley and David White; great-granddaughter Serafina McCormick; eleven nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews, and one great-great-great niece.

She was predeceased by her husband, a son Greg, all ten siblings, two nephews and two nieces.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the caregivers at Miller Pointe.

Visitation will be Thursday 9:00AM-6:45PM with a Rosary Service at 6:45PM followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, ND.

Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.

  2. When our family, Ray and Lois White, Aunt Betty’s brother in law who moved to Idaho from Carrington, would return to North Dakota to visit Grandma White, Aunt Betty would drop what she was doing to provide memorable hospitality to all 14 of us! Yes, those cinnamon rolls are unmatched. She loved her family, she was always aware of their needs and others in the extended family. Beautiful picture, we miss you! RIP
