Fred Schuster

Fred J. Schuster, age 70, of New Rockford, North Dakota passed away March 26, 2020 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.

Frederick John Schuster was born October 24, 1949 in New Rockford, ND, the son of Milo and Ida (Lura) Schuster. He grew up and attended school in New Rockford.  Fred married Sheila Gerdes on September 28, 1973.  She died December 12, 1976.  On December 30, 1977 he married Joanne Bauch in New Rockford, ND.

Fred had many jobs during his lifetime, which included Sheyenne Sand and Gravel, B & N Construction, and at the Eddy County Courthouse.  Fred’s favorite job was working for Delvaine Gjestvang Excavating.  He had just recently retired after working for Mark Rue.

Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, butchering, and spending time with his family.

Fred is survived by his brothers, Paul (Leona) Schuster, New Rockford, and Milo (Eurlyne) Schuster, Mandan; sisters, Mary Ann Miller, Mentor, MN and Alice (Craig) Ellingson, Glenfield, ND; nephews, John (Jean) Schuster, Jesse (Michelle) Schuster, Cole (Sheri) Ellingson, David Haman, Chris Haman, Wesley Miller and Lowell Miller; nieces, Lisa Schuster, Gerri Ann Ellingson, Tina Haman and Nicole (David Jr.) Chenze.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Joanne and Sheila, sister Jean Haman and brothers-in-law Mike Miller and Simon Haman.

Visitation will be Monday from 1:00PM – 7:00PM at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Private Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 31st at 2:00PM at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Burial will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.

  11. Fred used to always bring a bit of joy every time I saw him back when he worked at the court house. I used to enter the back way when I was on the PD and working with the Judge later, and Fred was always there with a joke or just a nice greeting. He was a wonderful part life in New Rockford back in those days, and the town will be just a bit poorer for his loss. Rest in peace old friend.
