Dennis Bergrud

Dennis Bergrud, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

Dennis Bergrud was born on January 9, 1934 to Melvin and Myrtle (Simonson) Bergrud in Bremen, ND.  Dennis was the 5th child of 10 for Melvin and Myrtle.  He attended Bremen school until 8th grade.  He then worked for various farmers. 

Dennis was united in marriage to Venoie Nerlien on April 23, 1955, at Concordia Lutheran Church, located south of Hamberg. After Dennis was discharged from the military, they lived at St. Paul, MN, for two years. They then moved to the Sheyenne area where they have lived.  Dennis worked for Sheyenne Sand & Gravel, Fischer Industries of Pick City, ND and Close Construction as a heavy equipment operator.  Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, rodeos and visiting friends at Bremen Bar. He was a member of the Saddle Club of Sheyenne.  He would keep an eye on the farm activities. 

He is survived by his children Deb Wetzel, Sheyenne, Daryl (Angel) Bergrud, Brookings, SD, Valerie Bergrud, Sheyenne, Doug Bergrud, Hamberg, Julie (Kelly) Zelfer, New Rockford, Jennifer (Juice) Fischer, Glasgow, MT; 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Jon Nygaard, Alberton, MT; brothers, Larry (Julie), Gerald (Kathy) and Eddie (Jeannette) Bergrud and sister, Norma Kolstad.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Denise Nygaard; 2 grandchildren, Christal Holter and Derrick Bonderson; brother, Raymond (Bernice) Bergrud; sisters, Lorrine (Norris) Ystaas, Minerva (Elmer) Faul, Violet Bergrud and Arlene (LaVerne) Klocke; sons-in-law, Buck Holter and Tom Wetzel and brother-in-law, Don Kolstad.

 

Dennis’ Visitation will be held Monday, June 3, 2024, from Noon -1:00PM followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, ND.

His Burial will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Bremen, ND.

  6. So sorry to hear Dennis has passed. Arnold said Dennis was his oldest friend going back to the 50’s. We will miss him on Saturday nights.
