Robin Coonc
Robin Ann Grant Coonc of Carrington, ND unexpectedly passed away on February 14, 2025, at 75 years of age.
Robin was born on October 3rd, 1949 to George Allan Grant and Margaret Evelyn Grant in Alameda, CA. She was raised on Bay Farm Island and graduated from Alameda High School. Shortly after high school Robin moved to Kentucky and married Denver Owen Dunbar. Robin and Denver had two daughters, Mary Margaret and Carol Lynn. After divorcing Denver, Robin, Mary and Carol returned to CA. Robin married Francis Michael Slokevage and had two more children, Teresa Elizabeth and Francis Michael.
Robin raised her four children in Manteca, Oakdale, Eureka, and San Leandro, CA. While raising her children Robin worked at Mervyn’s and was an Instructional Aid at Loren Eden Elementary School in Hayward, CA.
In April 1999, Robin married Douglas Wayne Coonc. After retiring from both Mervyn’s and Loren Eden, Robin and Douglas moved to Garrison, ND, and then on to Carrington, ND.
Robin loved her family more than anything. She loved everything that included her children and grandchildren including hosting parties and holidays, vacationing, camping, fishing, shopping, and reading to them.
To her family and friends, Robin was known for her love of sending cards. Everyone that she loved would receive cards for their birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. If there was a reason to send a card Robin would send one.
In 2006, Robin started cross-stitching Christmas ornaments for her family. Over the last 19 years, she has sewn 100s of ornaments. Each year her ornament list grew. She would start her ornaments in June and keep at them until Christmas. She loved finding new cross-stitch patterns that would be special to one of her recipients.
Robin also loved to scrapbook, read, sew, write in her diary, and garden. She was a homebody who was happy and content to listen to the TV as she worked on her projects.
Robin was preceded in death by her father, George Grant (1921-1987), mother, Margaret Grant (1919-2006), nephew, Shannon Ray (1975-2023), and niece Elizabeth Esparza (1984-2024).
