Paulette Leik
Paulette Leik, age 74, of Carrington, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.
Paulette was born on March 2, 1949, in Carrington, ND to Virgil and Doris (Purcell) Hennings, of rural Foster County. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school; she then went on to Carrington High School, where she graduated. Paulette attended Moler Barber College after high school in Fargo, ND for a year and then began her passion for cutting and styling hair.
Following her time in Fargo, she returned to Sykeston, this is where she started cutting hair for surrounding communities. Through the years, Paulette resided in Sykeston and it was there that she was united in marriage to Frank Brame. Together they were blessed with four children. Paulette spent the next several years traveling around North Dakota working various jobs in differing fields. Paulette returned to Sykeston to work for Ed Mittleider’s Excavation Services for a few years. After her time with the excavation service, she drove truck for Pat Biel, until her retirement.
Starting from a young age, Paulette had a passion for her horses, and could often be found riding them around the farm. Paulette adored spending time with her friends and family. She spent her free time reading at the public library relishing in all types of books. Paulette’s entertainment was her crossword puzzles, she was always up for a challenge.
She is survived by her children; Marie LeVeaux, Wimbledon, ND, Roger (Joely) Leik, South Carolina, Clayton Brame, Courtenay, ND, and Cliff Leik, Medina, ND; five grandchildren, Eli Leik, Eric Leik, Mary Keown, Gage Clary, and Angela Leik; one brother, John Hennings, Carrington, ND; one sister, Fern Hennings, Beach, ND; three nieces and one nephew.
Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Doris Hennings, and one brother, Richard Hennings.
Paulette’s Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.

Oh how we will miss her colorful personality. I first met Paulette playing Medicine ball during phy Ed., as an 8th grader in the high school. She was rough and tough, but I wasn’t going to let her push me around. I pushed that huge ball hard, knocking her into the bleachers. She was pretty mad and came up to me asking if I did that to her. Yes I did. She patted me on the shoulder telling me I did good. We were good buds from then on. Paulette’s path in life was rough, but she’d always greet those she liked with a hearty hug. I’ll miss that.

Sad to hear this, my condolences to Paulette’s family. Many great memories with Paulette, she was a close family friend to both Barbara’s and my family.

Loved her sense of humor and her telling of jokes.
Liked how she always told it like it was. Not pulling any punches.
You always knew how you stood with Paulette.
