Anton “Duane” Matt, passed away peacefully while resting on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Eventide Nursing Home in Jamestown, ND, at the age of 78.

Duane was born on September 15 of 1942 in Valley City, ND to Anton and Lulu “Miller” Matt. He graduated from Hannaford High School in 1961. Duane married Norma Jean Forsberg, his high school sweetheart on June 11 of 1965.  Duane and Norma moved to Grace City, ND, not long after being married. They raised their 3 children Tony, Jennifer and Jared in Grace City at the house that Norma still occupies. Duane held several jobs over the years that included road construction, school janitor, truck driver and farm work.

Duane loved to go hunting and fishing, he particularly liked Ice Fishing. Spending time in the outdoors was a great deal to him; especially, when he was with his kids and grandkids.  He loved country western music and bluegrass music. He enjoyed the stock car races in Jamestown, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Duane is survived by his wife of 55 years Norma, Grace City; his three Children Tony (Christi) Matt, Alexandria, MN, Jennifer Matt, Bismarck, ND, and Jared (Bridget) Carrington, ND; Grandchildren Jacob and Kia, Alexandria, MN, Reilly and Andrew, Carrington ND.

Duane is preceded in death by parents, Anton and Lulu “Miller” Matt; siblings Lewis, George, Theresa, Betty and Jim.

 

Visitation will be Friday, 9:00AM-7:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 10:30AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Grace City, ND.

Burial will be held at a later date.
