Brenda Kay Peltier, “Soldier Woman”, age 65, of Spirit Lake, ND, died in her home on June 27, 2023, with her family by her side.

Brenda Kay Peltier was born July 23, 1957, the daughter of Hattie (Charboneau) and Joseph Edward Peltier Sr, one of the middle children of seven siblings.  She attended school in Fort Totten.  Brenda served in the US Army from 1983-1987, when she was honorably discharged.  While in the Army she served at Fort Lee, Virginia, and Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and she also obtained her GED.  Brenda enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, joking around, but her favorite thing was taking care of her family and friends.  She would give the shirt off her back to anybody.  She will be greatly missed by everyone, this world will not be the same without her.  Brenda worked at Sioux Manufacturing for 10.5 years, and also worked for the Spirit Lake Casino for 10.5 years as the head cook.  She then took on 4 children, raising 2 of them since 3 months old (Ginger & Mary Rue) until passing.

Brenda is survived by Ginger Rue (Trevon Alexander, Arianna Jacobs, Kiara Jacobs, Jordan Rue, Devontae Alexander), Monica McKay (Dawnti McKay, Tyanna Gonzalez, McKylne Gonzalez, Julian McKay, Julius McKay, Dakota White), Mary McDonald (Neko Herald, Neka Herald, Nekio Herald, Justina McDonald, Izabella McDonald); sisters, Lila Vannett, Camilla Smith; brother Patrick Peltier; her only Godchild, Vassago Redroad; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mom, Hattie (Charboneau) Peltier; her dad, Joseph Edward Peltier Sr; sisters, Carol Charboneau (Peltier), Beverly Peltier, Mary Ellen Charboneau (Peltier); brother, Joseph Edward Peltier Jr; nieces, April Herald, Crystal Charboneau, Kayla Charboneau; nephews, Keith Charboneau, Richard Charboneau; best friends Whalen Wasacase & Jackie.

Brenda’s Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00PM-7:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at the St. Michael Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael, ND.

Friends wishing to join the procession from New Rockford to St. Michael may gather on the St. Jerome’s road, Fort Totten, prior to 4:15PM.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 at 10:00AM at the St. Michael Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael, ND.

Her Burial will be at the St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, Fort Totten, ND.
