Daniel Peltier

Daniel Nathan Peltier, Sr., age 62, passed away at his home in St. Michael, ND surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

Daniel was born on November 21, 1961, in Belcourt, ND to George and Eva (Dauphinais) Peltier.  Daniel was baptized in Belcourt, ND.  He attended grade school in Fort Totten, ND, in Belcourt, ND, and Circle of Nations (Wahpeton Indian School).  Daniel attended high school at Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, SD.  He played point guard in basketball (MVP in 9th and 10th grade).  He also played linebacker and quarterback in football.  He participated in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He also participated in tennis, golf, and volleyball while at Flandreau Indian School.  Later in life, Daniel enjoyed pool, darts, fishing, and hunting deer, geese and ducks.  Daniel loved dogs and playing pinochle, chess, and horseshoes.  Daniel married Jacqueline Black Bird on June 18, 2004, at St. Michael, ND and they bought a home in St. Michael, ND and formed a very special life together.  Daniel and Jacqueline enjoyed traveling around together, as well as spending time with family and friends.  Daniel believed in putting the family first before anything else.   

He has worked at Sioux Manufacturing as a hog ringer and was promoted to a supervisor for approximately 12 years.  Most recently, he worked in security surveillance for 24 years at Spirit Lake Casino and Resort. His surveillance job was very important to him and he was very good at his job.  Daniel was recognized as Employee of the Year for the Casino. 

Daniel is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Black Bird) Peltier; children, Cedric Peltier, Brooke (Jeremy) Demarce, Darren (Melissa) Peltier and Sara Peltier; grandchildren, Xavier, Taveshia and Kiara Peltier, Cambre & Camden Peltier, Dayton Lambert, Cameron Longie, Zoe Demarce, Ethan & Emily Peterson; step-children, Norman Blackbird, Bennett Black Bird (Peltier), Travis Black Bird Sr. and Denise Hunt; special grandchildren, Jodeci Knutson, Dylan Knutson and special dog, Paco.

Daniel is also survived by his mother, Eva (Peltier) Dauphinais; brothers, Clayton (Debbie) Peltier, Raymond (Linda) Peltier and Douglas (Carlene) Peltier; sisters, Deb Ann (Waun) Peltier and Lisa (Craig) Engh; step-brothers, Peter (Cindy) Dauphinais, Dean (Sonta) Dauphinais, James Dauphinais, Hyllis (Nancy) Dauphinais and step-sisters, Velma (Vern) Lambert, Dorothea (Darcy) Olson, Darlene (Eric) Longie, Laure Dauphinais and Angela (Jesse) Cavanaugh.

Daniel was preceded in death by his grand-parents Fredrick and Cecile (Lenoir) Peltier; father, George Ben Peltier; brothers, Cedric, Carl and Allen Peltier; step-father, Pete Dauphinais Sr. and step-brother, Jack Dauphinais.

Daniel Peltier’s Visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 1:00PM-4:00PM with a Prayer Service at 1:30PM all at the St. Michael Rec. Center, St. Michael, ND.

Friends wishing to join the procession from the Devils Lake City Plaza to St. Michael, may gather at the Plaza prior to 12:30PM.
