Tammy Peterson

Tammy Jo Peterson, age 56, peacefully passed to her eternal home on Monday, June 15, 2020, under the care of the staff at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure, ND, and CHI Hospice.

Tammy Peterson was born on July 9, 1963, to Christ and Verna (Park) Vande Hoven in Carrington, ND. She attended elementary school in Carrington and finished her high school years in New Rockford, ND, and was a graduate of the Central High School Class of 1983. After her graduation, Tammy moved to Jamestown where she held various jobs until her Parkinsons no longer allowed her to do so.

On September 22, 1988, she married Clifford Peterson; together they shared the pure joy in the birth of their son, Clifford Jr.

Tammy will be remembered for her spunky demeanor and always wanting to tell or hear a good joke, her zest for competition whether it be at Norwegian golf, Kings in the Corner, Bingo or Trouble, her continued desire to never give up on believing that someday she would be well enough to return home, along with her true compassion for her family and friends.

A sincere thank you to the staff at St. Rose Care Facility. Tammy entered there in April 2017 with sadness in her heart and a longing to return home. You welcomed her into your gentle and compassionate home, treated her with respect and filled her life with humor and laughter, all while sharing your families with her as well. Your little “Walmart greeter” and “hall monitor” truly blossomed under your care and friendship. Hope her memories left you with laughter in your hearts and a smile on your faces.

Tammy is survived by her husband, Cliff (Jamestown, ND); son, Clifford Jr. (Valley City, ND); siblings, Roger (Ann) Vande Hoven, Larry (Belinda) Vande Hoven, Terry (Dora) Vande Hoven, Kristy (Barney) Heitkamp, Chuck Vande Hoven, Stacey (Michael) Gussiaas and Kerri Heid; a brother-in-law Jim Huling; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Huling; brother, Dale Vande Hoven; nephew, Travis Vande Hoven and five infant brothers.

Visitation will be Friday, June 19, 2020, 9:00AM – 3:00PM followed by the Funeral Service for family and close friends at 3:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.

  4. I had the joy of being one of the many cna’s to help Tammy every morning and she always made me laugh, every morning I came to work she was sitting by the fireplace greeting everybody as we started our day. I will miss her very much, I’ll never forget her picking on Katrina Who Tammy has known since Kat was 15. We will never forget her and I also had the privilege of her meeting my first born and seeing Tammy have the biggest smile. I will miss how competitive she got when we did games with her and I will miss our cheerleader.

  9. We all miss Tammy so much here, she was a joy to have around and if she discovered you didn’t like something, she had a field day. One of our nurses didn’t like cats so she was forever meowing at her. She was fun and funny and her jokes were great. She always had a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous grin on her face. Prayers for her family and friends.

  14. My family, mostly all passed over, leaving my husband George and myself (Isabella). We have come to know the sadness and immediate emptiness of being left behind. But I know that you understand that it is not the end, but merely the entrance to a budding new part of our very existence. Please accept our recognition of your loss and accept our thoughts to you and your family. All our love to you. Isabella & George Corfield.
