Norris Rud
Norris Conrad Rud, 94, of New Rockford, passed away surrounded by his wife and family on May 25, 2019 at the CHI St. Alexius Health Center in Carrington.
Norris was born on October 14, 1924 on his family farmstead west of Sheyenne to Fred and Anna (Hendrickson) Rud. He grew up on the farm and attended the Grandfield Country Schoolhouse until the 8th grade. He then began farming with his father and brother, Harold.
Norris married Gloria Berglund on August 3, 1951 in Sheyenne, ND. This is where they farmed and raised three children. They moved to New Rockford in 1989.
Norris was a member of the Grandfield Township Board for more than 30 years. He drove school bus for the Sheyenne Public School for 12 years.
Most important to Norris was spending time with his wife and family. His passion for farming continued for over 70 years and he loved to visit and share stories with everyone. His strong faith was reflected by his deep devotion to his church.
Norris was a member of Grandfield Lutheran Church his entire life. He served as the bell ringer for 50 years, taking over for his father. He also served on the cemetery board and took great pride in maintaining the cemetery.
He always looked forward to church and the fellowship after services.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Gloria; son, Neal (Deb) Rud, New Rockford; daughter, Sheryl (Gene) Heisler, Velva; grandchildren, Darcy (Geoff) Blegen, Kris Rud, Heather (Darrin) King, Kayla (Dusty) Lawson, and Alyson Heisler; great grandchildren, Cambree and Grady Blegen, Preston and Camden King, and Ethan and Ellie Lawson; and sister-in-law, Carol Rud, Binford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Anna; daughter, Shirley; brother Harold; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys (Pete) Tveito.
Visitation: will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 9:00AM-7:00PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM all in the Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, ND
Funeral Service: will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 10:00AM at Grandfield Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne, ND.
Burial: will be in Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sheyenne, ND.

Norris married my 1st. Cousin Gloria Berglund. Our hearts go out to the Norris family.
Norris was our school bus driver for several years. He was always cheerful, friendly, careful, and dependable. I think that was pretty much his way of life. Lots of good memories.
