Dan “Bucky” Shroyer
Daniel “Bucky” Shroyer, age 70, of New Rockford, ND, died peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, under Hospice Care at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Daniel Ira Shroyer was born on May 3, 1954, the third son of Leland and Suzanna (Olson) Shroyer. He was welcomed by big brothers, Kenneth and David. Dan started school at Munster #3 Country School and then attended New Rockford High School, where he graduated in 1972. He then attended Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Detroit Lakes, MN, and learned the trade of Mechanics. He truly was a jack of all trades, in that he had learned electrical from his father, carpentry from his uncle Burt, and then mechanics at college. Dan played City League and amateur basketball, after graduating and returning home. He also played on the Eagles local softball team. Dan married Joan (Semmens) Bauer on September 3, 1991, and together they were blessed with a son, Ethan.
Dan started farming at 14 years old for Tully Skaar and continued for Schaefer Farms until the fall of 2023. He served on several boards throughout the years, including the Community Credit Union Board, the Soil Conservation Board, and the North Dakota Steam Threshers. During his free time, he enjoyed deer hunting and spending time outdoors.
Dan will be greatly missed by his wife, Joan Shroyer; son, Ethan (Abby) Shroyer; grandchildren, Brycen & Kayce Shroyer with one more on the way, Brayden, Tanner, Rachel, Katie Bauer; stepsons, Allan and Jonathan Bauer; brothers, Kenneth (Caroline Ann) Shroyer, Detroit Lakes, MN, and David (Charlene) Shroyer, Williston, ND; nephews, Matthew (Erin) Shroyer, Cody Satterlee, and Levi (Amanda) Satterlee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Suzanna; and several aunts and uncles.
Dan’s Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1:00-5:00PM with family present followed by a Prayer Service at 5:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 2:00PM at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford.
His Burial will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of Dan. He will be missed greatly by many of his friends and family. May we all find pease in our Lord.
We, as well as Mom and Dad will miss seeing Bucky. What a true friend (like a son) to our dad. Oh, the things they will learn up in Heaven from Bucky. He could do just anything. When Bucky did one of his projects, it was done with perfection. God will definitely have a kind, gentle and knowledgeable man to help everyone in heaven🙏
I’ve had many blessings in my life. One of the greatest has been knowing Danny for over fifty years and working with him for most of that time. Dan could do anything he put his mind to- and boy did he ever do a lot! He had an energy and joy for life that drew so many people to know and admire him. Dan was so willing and able to help anyone in solving problems. Not a day went by that someone did not call him for help or just to chat. He understood how so many things worked. He could troubleshoot anything and fix it all! He constantly amazed us who knew him well and saw him in action! Over fifty years, I never once saw Dan angry or crabby, nor did he ever give up trying to solve a problem- he just did not have that in him! He was an amazing person who will be deeply missed by all of us. We are so sorry for Joan, the family and all Dan’s friends that he was taken way too soon. We will always cherish the memories and laughter we shared with Dan! He was the best!
Joan and families, we are so sorry for your loss. Hugs my friend. 🤗🙏💝
Joan, Eathan and family
Prayers are with the Shroyer family from the Whetham family.
It was my pleasure to have Danny as one of the Board Members for the Eddy County Soil Conservation District when I worked there. Danny was a great person to work with whether it was dealing with the Steam Threshers or the ECSCD.
RIP!

Joanie ~ so very sorry to hear of your husband’s passing.
(((HUGS))) and 🙏🏼🙏🏼.
Joanie, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest sympathies.
Joanie and family, we are so sorry and saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. All the messages have truly portrayed the person he was. I remember in high school when St. James closed and we had to go to Central public, Dan was one of the 1st kind friend I met. One winter weekend night, my car wouldn’t start and it was late and he offered to give me and my sister a ride home (17 miles from town.) Hadn’t known him for very long at the time and yet he was so generous.
He will certainly be missed. Blessings to you to have had him in your lives 🙏 ❤️.
