ALICE M. HAVN
Alice Havn, age 81, of Glenfield, ND, formerly of McHenry, ND, died Friday, December 30, 2011, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND. Alice Halverson was born on March 27, 1930, the daughter of Gilbert and Avis (Forrest) Halverson at Sauk Centre, Minnesota. She attended school at Sauk Centre and baptized at First Lutheran Church on July 3, 1930. She moved to ND in 1954.
On September 27, 1955, Alice was united in marriage to Gilbert Havn at Glenwood, MN. They lived on the family farm at McHenry. Gilbert died March 11, 1978. On July 2, 1978, Alice was confirmed at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in rural Tolna. Alice later moved into McHenry and then moved to Glenfield in 2010.
Alice was deaf since age nine due to injuries she received in a car accident. However, by reading lips and written notes she was able to communicate well with family and friends over the years.
Alice loved her cats and was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and canning. She was a “Prayer Partner” for many Christian ministries, and is remembered as being a “helper” while living in McHenry, taking people to appointments and other errands.
Alice is survived by 2 brothers, Harold Halverson, Sauk Centre, MN, Vernon (Emma) Halverson, LaPorte, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, her parents and 1 sister, Alvia Wiegers.
