Alice Jordan
Alice Jordan, age 96, of New Rockford, ND, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. Alice Evelyn Anderson was born December 7, 1914, in Rosefield Township, ND, the daughter of Gustav and Selma (Anderson) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm and attended the township grade school. She graduated from New Rockford High School. Alice then moved to Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin, where she worked at King’s Gateway Hotel and Restaurant. Alice was united in marriage to Harvey Jordan on March 12, 1941, at Dubuque, Iowa. They briefly lived at Milwaukee, Wisconsin prior to moving to New Rockford. Alice worked summers as 2nd Cook on the iron ore freighters sailing the Great Lakes. Alice and Harvey built and operated Jordan’s Country House supper club at New Rockford until 1975. Harvey Jordan died March 24, 1976. Alice then worked several years at Sioux Manufacturing at Fort Totten, ND. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Altar Circle and WELCA. Alice also was a member of Rebecca Lodge, Eastern Star, New Rockford Eagles and Golf Club. She was active in TOPPS, Homemakers, Red Hat Society, Minerva Club and the Senior Citizen Center. Alice was known for her artistic abilities, which included paper quilling, oil paintings of flowers and landscapes, china painting, and quilting. Alice is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Omar) Forberg, Bemidji, MN; one grandson Clint (Kathy) Forberg, Fridley, MN, 3 great-grandchildren: Heather (Chris) Peabody; Tina (Justin) Brank, Jenna Gerard; 2 great-great-granddaughters; one brother Vance Anderson, New Rockford; 2 sisters Dorothy Nern and Marjorie Curtiss, both of Phoenix, AZ. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 5 brothers, Art, Bert, James, Kenneth, Harry; and two sisters, Elsie and Helen.
