Naomi L. Allmaras

Naomi L. Allmaras, age 82, of New Rockford, ND, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford. Naomi L. (Eckert) Allmaras was born April 2, 1931, to Gertrude (Schlichting) and Joseph Eckert, Sr. at Garrison, ND. The family moved to Underwood, ND, and then to New Rockford, ND where Naomi graduated from high school in 1948. She attended Minot State Teacher’s College and graduated with a Standard Teaching Certificate in 1950. She taught at Sheyenne, ND, for one year. Naomi married Ted Allmaras on October 11, 1951, in New Rockford, ND. They lived on the farm west of New Rockford until retiring to New Rockford in 1992. Naomi was a church organist for over 50 years, serving at the Methodist Episcopal Church in New Rockford, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Bremen, Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Rockford, and St. John’s Catholic Church of New Rockford. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Superior Homemaker’s Club, Eddy County Historical Society, and the Rockford Red Hats. Mother will be missed by her husband of nearly 62 years; her children, Garth (Cathy) Allmaras, Peoria, AZ; Louise (Cort) Arlien, Howard Lake, MN; Beth Ramsey, Las Vegas, NV; Arthur Allmaras, New Rockford; Roger (Laurie) Allmaras, Grafton, ND; Alison (Dennis) Nybo, Bismarck, ND; Gertrude (Mike) Magnuson, Oro Valley, AZ; Linus (Susette) Allmaras, New Rockford, ND; Dominic (Dawn) Allmaras, Kindred, ND; Zona (Scott) Mielke, Peoria, AZ. Her 30 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren will miss Grandma dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beatrice, brothers Joseph, Robert, and Garth, sister-in-law Audrey, and brother-in-law Joe Umont.
