Marion Austin, age 94, of Carrington, ND, died Friday, November 9, 2012, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND.

Marion Wangen was born on April 7, 1918, the daughter of Elmer and Carrie (Risgaard) Wangen at Harvey, ND. She was raised and graduated high school at Hurdsfield, ND.

On August 7, 1938, Marion was united in marriage to Ernest Leo Austin at the farm near Chaseley, ND. They lived on several different farms in the Chaseley-Hurdsfield area. In 1944, they moved to the Sykeston area where they farmed and she was a teacher’s aide in Carrington. Marion moved to Carrington after Ernest died October 10, 1998.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington. Marion enjoyed quilting, bingo and puzzle books.

Marion is survived by a daughter, Shirley Downey, Arvada, CO; one son, Gary Austin, Carrington, ND; two grandchildren, Michelle (Todd) Logsdon and Linda (Michael) TeKrony; four great-grandchildren, Brady, Paris, Nicholas and Leah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest; one son-in-law Joe; and two brothers, Roy and Duane.
