Betty Nelson Bachmeier

Betty Nelson Bachmeier, age 73, of New Rockford, ND died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford. Betty Jean Syverson was born April 30th, 1941, at New Rockford, the daughter of Goodwin and Minnie (Manz) Syverson. She grew up and attended school in McHenry and Grace City, ND. On June 5, 1959, Betty was united in marriage to Harley Nelson. They made their home in New Rockford where Harley and Betty were blessed with six children (Becky, Harlo, Brenda, Robin, Carla, Shellie). Betty worked 29 years at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. Betty cherished her many friends and residents during her employment. After Harley’s passing, Betty met her companion and friend, Frank Bachmeier. They were united in marriage on June 26, 2006. They shared the compassion of gardening, canning and cooking. Betty’s highlight was going to rummage sales and playing bingo at the Eagles. During Betty’s health issues Frank stood by Betty as a loving husband and caretaker. She is survived by her husband Frank; one son Harlo (Pam Anderson) Nelson of Ada, MN; five daughters Becky (Don) Hulse of Catoosa, OK; Brenda (Kenny) Nealis of Cashion, OK; Robin (Scott) Westall of West Fargo, ND; Carla (Mike) Roberts of Warroad, MN; Shellie Nelson of Cashion, OK; fourteen Grandchildren and nine Great-Grandchildren; two stepchildren: Brenda Newhausen of Rockford, IL; Frank Bachmeier Jr., Atlanta, GA; one sister Janet (Leo) Laube of New Rockford. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Harley Nelson, and brother Kenny Syverson.
