Alvin Beck

Alvin Beck, age 90, and life-time resident of Woodworth, ND, passed away on February 6, 2014. Alvin had been a resident for about a month at Eventide /Hi- Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND, and died of natural causes.

Alvin was born on February 11, 1923, in Woodworth, ND, the son of Jacob & Lydia (Teske) Beck. He was fifth among eight children. Alvin graduated from Woodworth Public School. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in southern Texas.

Alvin was united in marriage to Martha Bauer, a schoolteacher from Selby, SD, in 1957. He was a devoted husband and father and worked full-time on the family farm south-east of Woodworth. In addition, Alvin took time to serve his community with numerous stints as the local township supervisor, and served his local church, Medina Country Seventh-Day Adventist and then New Home Seventh-Day Adventist in various roles including deacon, elder, and Sabbath School Leader.

Alvin is survived by two children, Morris Beck ,Woodworth, ND, and Joyce (John) Azevedo, Apison, TN; two grandchildren, Jared Azevedo and Joseph Azevedo, both of Apison, TN; three sisters; Lily Rector, Oakland, CA, Violet Carrier, Spokane, WA, and Tillie Cathay, Missoula, MT; and one brother, Roy Beck, Walla Walla, WA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Martha (Bauer) Beck; and three sisters; Martha Adams, Edna Banish, and Emma Hust.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Quiet Hour Ministries or Voice of Prophecy.
