Berniece E. Jordre, 97 of Sheyenne, ND, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.

Berniece Elenora Myhre was born December 29, 1913 the daughter of Nels and Gena (Gutterud) Myhre in New Rockford, ND. Her family moved when she was three months old to a farm 5 ½ miles south of Sheyenne, ND. She received her elementary education at the Divide School, and graduated from Sheyenne High School and from Valley City State Teachers College. She taught school for two years at Grandfield School No. 2.

On June 19, 1937, Berniece was united in marriage to Lynn Jordre at New Rockford, ND, and they lived on and farmed the Jordre family farm at Sheyenne, ND.

Berniece was a member of Eden Lutheran Church rural Sheyenne for many years where she was a member of the ladies aid and served various roles, taught Sunday School and was organist for 35 years. After the Eden Church burned she became a member of Grandfield Lutheran Church rural Sheyenne.

She is survived by two sons, Lorren (Ardis), rural Sheyenne, Ronald (Noreen), Minot, ND; one daughter Sheryl (Bruce) Hanson, Jamestown, ND; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Myhre and Ethel Myhre , both New Rockford, Vi Jordre, Oberon; and brother-in-law Wallace McLeod, Sheyenne.

Berniece was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Elmer, Arnold, Orville and Roy, and one sister, Nora McLeod.
