Betty Scheen, age 74, of Carrington, ND, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND.

Betty Mae Pister was born on May 16, 1936, the daughter of Peter and Hilda (Kaul) Pister in New Rockford, ND. She was raised and attended school in New Rockford. After graduating from High School, Betty taught school.

On August 23, 1954, Betty was united in marriage to Laverne Scheen in Carrington, ND. They lived in Tioga and Stanley, ND, where Laverne worked in the oil fields. In 1959, they moved to California where she worked in a cannery. They returned to Carrington in 1971, and Betty worked at the Barlow Locker Plant.

Laverne died May 16, 2008.

She enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, gardening and flowers, collected trains, crossword puzzles, and talking on the phone.
Betty will be remembered and deeply missed by her two sons, Verne (Marilyn) of Burns, OR, and Doug of Carrington, ND; two daughters, Pam (Mark) Fillbrandt, Felton, MN, and Laurie (Dan) Snow, Kensal, ND; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Elsie (Deloy) Moody, Cave City, AR; and a brother, Mark Erman, Bismarck, ND.

She was greeted in heaven by parents; husband, Laverne; a sister Johnlyn Erman; and a brother, Gordon.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials Presentation Hospice or Meals on Wheels in Carrington.
