Sue Goheen Buechler
Sue Goheen Buechler, age 79, of Carrington, ND, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, peacefully in her sleep. Sue passed from this life into eternal life with her God and Savior.
Sylvia Sue Bale was the firstborn of Virginia (Townsend) and Clyde Bale in Norman, OK, on November 10, 1935. With her father in the oil industry, the family lived in countless cities and states throughout her childhood before moving to Minot, ND, in 1951. Sue graduated from Minot High School and married Jerry Goheen May 23, 1953. They farmed in Bottineau County before settling in Carrington in 1957 to farm and raise their family: Randy, Kim, Lori, and Todd.
Sue was a devoted wife, mother, and loving grandmother with a strong creative bend and a leaning toward active volunteer service, often in leadership positions. But her overriding passion was for others to know and trust in Jesus alone for salvation. After Jerry’s tragic death in 1978, Sue moved in to Carrington. She again showed her fortitude, taking the nurses training and graduating from Wahpeton State School of Science. Sue cared for many patients during her years at Carrington Hospital and Health Center employed as a LPN.
Wes Buechler of Bremen, ND, and Sue were united in marriage on December 27, 2002, and made their home in Carrington. Wes and Sue were members of Calvary Baptist Church, and took great joy in each other, their children, and grandchildren.
Surviving family include Sue’s husband, Wes Buechler of Carrington; daughter-in-law Karen Goheen of Carrington and her children: Elliot and Missie Goheen of Barnesville, MN, and their children Makaya and Grayson, Danielle and Tony Kraling of Cooperstown, ND, and their daughter Madison; daughter Kim and Dr. Mark Emmerich of Dickinson, ND, and their children: Jeremy and Elisabeth Emmerich of Minneapolis, MN, and their son Maxwell, Maria and Josh Hammond of Dickinson, and their children Jack, Jesse, Jet, Ellie and Emmie, Mallory and John Hanstad of Glendale, AZ, and their soon-to-be-born child, Joseph and Eva Emmerich of Minneapolis, and Jay Emmerich of St. Paul, MN; daughter Lori and Jim Cook of rural Carrington, and their sons: Jerad and Amanda Cook of Edgely, ND, and their children McKenna, Easton, and Kinley, Justin and Kim Cook of Carrington, and their children Mya and Mason, and Jacob Cook of Kulm, ND; and son Todd and Tammy Goheen of Oshkosh, WI, and their daughters: Rolanda Goheen of Oshkosh, and Davanna and Maurice Butler of Oshkosh, and their children Davian, Kylin, Rayel, and Dezi. Sue’s life was further enriched by adding to those she considered beloved family: Wes’s daughters Marcy and Gerry Henges of Kansas City, MO, and family; Laurie and Dr. William Garlow of Salina, KS, and family; and Melanie and Tom Nees of Wenatchee, WA, and family. Also surviving is brother Gary Bale of Oklahoma, OK, and family; family of brother Jesse Bale; sister-in-law Marjorie Glinz of Jamestown, ND, and family, family of brother-in-law Jim Goheen; and brother-in-law Bill and Marilyn Goheen, Minot, and family. May God bless the memory of Sue.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Jerry Goheen; very recently, son Randy Goheen; her parents; parents-in-law Ivan and Lillian Goheen; brother Jesse Bale and his wife Dee; brother-in-law Jim Goheen and his wife Karen; and brother-in-law Arvel Glinz.
