Mary Jane Cook, age 80, of Sheyenne, ND, died Monday, June 20, 2016, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Mary Jane Sookov was born January 9, 1936, in New Rockford, ND, the daughter of Michael and Louise (Wohlgemuth) Sookov.  She attended St. James Academy in New Rockford, graduating from high school in 1951.  Mary Jane moved to Yakima, WA, where she attended Hair Dressing School.  She worked as a Beautician in Yakima and in Walla Walla, WA.  She then moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she worked at a Ramada Inn as a housekeeper. 

Mary Jane was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Cook in Phoenix.   They lived there until his death, and following, she moved to Woodside, Delaware, and lived with her sister Helen Belisle.  Mary Jane worked at an Assisted Living facility while there.  She moved back to Sheyenne in the late 1960’s.

She enjoyed raising flowers, and making greeting cards and sending them to family and friends.  She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, New Rockford.

Mary Jane is survived by her brother, John Sookov of Sheyenne; two sisters, Genevieve Schatz of Yakima, WA and Sr. Marcelline Sookov, PBVM, of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother James, and one sister Helen Belisle.
