Danny Gross, Jr.
Daniel “Danny� Gross, age 58, of Carrington, ND, died at his home under the care of his family and Presentation Hospice, after a 2 month battle with lung cancer.
Daniel Duane Gross was born on October 20, 1951, the son of Daniel and Laura (Bitz) Gross. He attended Carrington School and was raised on the Gross farm south of Carrington, where he farmed and raised cattle with his father, Dan and brother, Kenny for many years. On June 29, 1973, Danny was united in marriage to Shirley Klocke of New Rockford, ND in Carrington. They shared their life together on the Gross Farm, where they raised two daughters, Melanie and Tara. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he served on the Longview Township board for many years. Danny was especially proud of his 4 grandsons, Cody Martin, Tyler Martin, Braeden Baker and Ryan Baker. Danny will be remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Melanie (Shelby) Martin, Bismarck, ND, and Tara (Glenn) Baker, West Fargo, ND; four grandsons, Cody and Tyler Martin, Braeden and Ryan Baker; three sisters, Yvonne (John) Hoppe, Carrington, Jeanette Beck, Virginia Beach, VA, and Kay (Gary) Morlock, Bismarck; one brother, Robert (Pat) Gross, Carrington; step-mom, Kathy Gross of CO; step-brother, Chris (Annie) Gunn of KS; step-sister, Becky (JR) Shipley of CO; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Laura; two brothers, Kenny and Donald; and a brother-in-law, Carl Beck. So sorry for your loss. I remember the night you guys were over at our house, it was right around the 4th of July, we were all shooting off fireworks & trying different flavors of margaritas you Dad didnt want to try them he stuck to his beer.. when the night was over he said it was a good thing they only had to walk across the street to get to your house. He seemed like a very fine man... You all are in our thoughts & prayers.

Sorry to hear about Danny, I was back and visited over memorial weekend and Twila had let me know about Danny. I had ridden motorcycle up from Iowa and went out to Curt and Twila's and was going to stop in but when I saw the campers that I assume was family, I did not want to intrude. I had lots of respect for Danny and yourself. I had not seen Danny or yourself for so many years that I wanted to just stop in and say hi. One of my memories of Danny was that he was such a hard worker, so I hope he took time to enjoy the grandchildren in his stubborn ways. God bless you and the girls.

Message: Danny was a great Man in all aspects of his life. It was an honor to know him and able to spend part of my high school years out at his home with his daughters. Melanie and I were great friends in HIGH school and have lost some contact since she has moved away to make a living with her family. Shirley and Danny are people of nothing but great words. I loved being with them all. Shirley, Melanie, Tara and all of Danny's Family you ought to be so proud to have such a great Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother as Danny was to all of you, everyone needs a Danny. He in my mind will forever live in my heart and mind. I hope for God to help find you Peace within this time of sorrow and for you to only remember the BEST DAYS of your life with him as most of us WILL. May God bless all of you.
