Dorothy E. Hanson, age 86, of New Rockford, ND, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at the Carrington Health Center in Carrington, ND.
Dorothy Eldora Giedd was born May 23, 1924 in Salol, MN, the daughter of Mike and Daisy (McMillen) Giedd.
The family moved back to North Dakota in 1926. They lived at Baker and Fillmore for a period of time. Dorothy was educated in Benson County and Astoria, Oregon.
In 1945, she was united in marriage to John Axtman in Devils Lake, ND, where they lived for a number of years. They had two daughters and later divorced.
Dorothy had numerous jobs in her life, but took pride as being a bridal consultant and managing a bridal salon.
Dorothy was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Rockford. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, but most of all she loved her grandsons and being with them. In the fall of 1999, she moved into Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Bob) Dominguez, Portland, OR and Jane (Jim) Bichler, New Rockford, ND; five grandsons, Michael Dominguez, Portland, OR, Jason (Tina) Bichler, West Fargo, ND, Jeremy Bichler, Fargo, ND, Tyler Bichler, Kindred, ND and Tanner Bichler, New Rockford, ND; and one great grandson, Hunter Bichler, West Fargo, ND.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters.
