Donnie Duda, age 60, of New Rockford, ND, died Monday, October 10, 2016, of natural causes while working north of Sheyenne, ND.

Donald "Donnie" Lynn Duda, known as "Dudes", was born October 17, 1955, in New Rockford. He was the son of Edgar J. and Dorothy (Chandler) Duda.  Donnie grew up in Sumter, SC, and attended Fuhrman School. The family returned to New Rockford, and Donnie attended Central School beginning in the Fall of 1966.

Donnie began working as a young man, first on the farm with his uncle, LaVerne Duda.  Later he worked for Norman Hirchert at Standard 281 Service.  In 1978, Donnie began working at Sheyenne Sand & Gravel, where he continued for 30 years. Donnie then became employed by his current employer, Mark Rue/NCZ Express, New Rockford.

In 1976, Donnie was married to Laura "Laurie" Odstrcil at Aberdeen, SD.  Two children were born to them, Crystal and Darren Bubba.  They later divorced.

In 1997, Donnie met a longtime companion, Marlene Jordet, and this relationship gave him an extended family and friends who all brought him a lot of joy in his life.

One of things Donnie was known for was that he loved to arm wrestle, and considered himself to be the “New Rockford Champion”.    He loved demo derbies, camping, tinkering on his big black truck, and socializing with friends.  Donnie so loved his dog Hagen, who was a constant and close companion to him.

He is survived by his daughter Crystal Duda, Carrington, son Bubba Duda, New Rockford, daughter Gail Schutz, Fargo, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his father Edgar Duda, New Rockford, brother Larry Duda, Carrington, sister Maxine (Paul Anderson) Hoppe, Carrington, and his companion, Marlene Jordet, New Rockford.
