Wallace "Wally" Edinger

Wallace “Wally Edinger, 83, of New Rockford died Friday, October 19, 2012, at his home in New Rockford.

Wallace Everett Edinger was born on June 18, 1929, in Cathay, ND, to Edward and Annie (Reddig) Edinger. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1952 to May 1954. During the Korean War, he was stationed in Alaska. Upon his return, he began farming. On May 20, 1956, he married Carol Wright at Courtney, ND. They made their home on a farm outside of New Rockford where they raised three children.

Family and farming were his passions. He loved restoring tractors and could fix anything with the right wrench and a little WD-40. Wally enjoyed morning coffee and fellowship with his friends. His sense of humor and billiard skills were unparalleled. He had a way with animals both domestic and wild, only he could have a wild pheasant come a running and chase him on the four wheeler when he called, “Rooster! He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

Wally was a member of the American Legion, the New Rockford Eagles and a former member of the United Methodist Church in New Rockford for 55 years.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 56 years; children, Julie Wentz & grandson Zachary, Jackie Edinger and significant other, Wade Nelson, Jim (Becky) Edinger and grandchildren Preston and Hannah, all of Mayville, ND; one sister, Coral Trochmann, Fargo, ND; 2 brothers, Dennis (Moneen) Edinger, Cathay, and Richard (Judy) Edinger, Fergus Fall, MN.

Message: Our deepest condolences to the Edinger family. I still remember going to the Edinger's when I lived in NR as a child. I am Jerry and Artie Rasmussons oldest daughter. I'm sure my dad, Jerry, has read of Wally's passing. He still tells stories of his NR days with Ray & Wally. I will pass on his condolences also. My mom Artie passed away a few years ago. May God hold you all in his arms and comfort you as you go thru this difficult time. God Bless Brenda Rasmusson Ankenbauer.

Message: Carol and family: My heart is heavy and sad now when hearing of Wally's passing. I am sending hugs with the angels who are surrounding you and watching over you now. They will help you smile when remembering those many memories. Julie-my dear classmate. I am so sorry. I have very fond memories of being at your house when I summered with Elsie & Lester. Wally was so good to me, making me laugh all the time. He always made time to say hi when he saw me home from Colorado. Wally was just a sweetheart of a guy and he will be forever missed--hug Carol, Jackie and Jim for me. Take care.
