Caroline Renee Eli, age 78, of Carrington, ND, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016, in Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.

Caroline Richter was born December 27, 1937, in Bismarck, ND, to Frank and Margaret (Hust) Richter. She was raised and educated in Bismarck. Caroline was united in marriage to William Eli on June 30, 1956, in McHenry, ND.  Together they operated the family farm and raised three daughters and three sons; Kathern, Theodore, Audrey, Florence, Curtis, and Wayne.

In her retirement, Caroline was an avid writer of editorials for local newspapers. She was actively involved in political discussions in her community; Caroline also enjoyed bingo and cards at the senior citizen center.

She is survived by her children, Kathern (Joseph) Chisham, Mt. Hope, KS, Theodore Eli, Mitchell, SD, Audrey (Larry) Fliflet, McVille, ND, Florence (George) Marson, Mt. Hope, KS, Curtis (Barb) Eli, Carrington, ND, and Wayne Eli; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband William Eli, her parents; sisters Magdeline Richter of Water Free, OR, Annie Burtts of Sacramento, CA, and twins Barbara and Catherine Richter, Freida Overbeck, Bismarck; also her brothers Anton of Tuttle, ND, Jacob of Bismarck, Ted Becknall, San Jose, CA, Eddy Becknall, Bismarck, John Becknall, Bismarck, Henry Becknall.
