LeRoy J. Erickson, age 89, of Carrington, ND, formerly of Glenfield, ND, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington.

LeRoy Jennings Erickson was born in Fargo, ND, on March 29, 1925, to Hjalmer and Hilda (Platzer) Erickson. His family moved to the Glenfield area, where he grew up and attended grade school and high school.

On December 23, 1945, LeRoy was united in marriage to Virginia Mae Nortvedt in Bremerton, Washington. While there, LeRoy worked in the Navy ship yards. They returned to North Dakota in the spring of 1946, and started farming with Carl Erickson near Binford. In 1955, they bought a farm in the Glenfield area where they farmed and raised cattle. In October 1981, they were selected from Foster County to receive the NDSU Agriculture Award for outstanding in agriculture. They farmed in the Glenfield area many years before moving to Carrington in 2010.

He was a member of Glenfield Lutheran Church now known as Prairie Faith Lutheran Church.

LeRoy is survived by Mae, his wife of 68 years; one son Larry (Kathy) Erickson, Glenfield; one daughter Colleen (David) Kramer, Kensal, ND; 2 grandchildren, Jordan Kramer, Kensal and Lindsey (Jeff) Hunt, Sun City, AZ; 2 great-grandchildren, Addison and Kierstyn Hunt, Sun City, AZ; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren; and one brother Calvin (Sharon) Erickson, Vancouver, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers Harland and Dale; 2 sisters Doris and Lois; and a granddaughter, Lauren (Kramer) Foster.
