Levor "Bud" Garnaas

Levor B. “Bud” Garnaas, 77, of Sioux Falls, SD died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 31 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Sioux Falls.  His committal service will be Friday, June 2 at Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, Sheyenne, ND.  Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 30 at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a Liturgical Wake Service starts at 7:00 PM.

Levor B. “Bud” Garnaas, son of Levorn and Emily (Gutterud) Garnaas, was born March 26, 1940 in Devils Lake, ND.

Bud entered the U.S. Navy on July 2, 1965 at Moorhead, MN and served during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged on June 17, 1968 at San Francisco, CA.  Bud's military service in the Navy was very important to him. He completed two tours of duty as a Lieutenant in Vietnam. He was assigned to the staff of the Commander US Naval Forces, which controlled all naval forces in the Republic.

Bud was united in marriage with Patricia Moo on April 7, 1979 in Sheyenne, ND.  Bud and Pat's retirement to Cotton Lake Minnesota came after a successful career as a bond trader in San Francisco, Chicago, and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Pat; three siblings, Ahna Kolsrud and her husband, Gary, Rochert, MN, Becky Malchow and her husband, Tom, Aberdeen, SD, Jon Garnaas and his wife, Faith, Des Moines, IA; ten nieces and nephews, Julie Davis and her husband, Lee, Corvallis, OR, Mary Wilson and her husband, Tom, Maple Grove, MN, Cindy Anderson and her husband, Kent, Bismarck, ND, Erik Malchow, Alexandria, MN, Peder Malchow and his wife, Heather, Des Moines, IA, Mark Malchow and his wife, Gina, Aberdeen, SD, Nate Malchow and his wife, Sarah, Sioux Falls, SD, Courtney Stevens and her husband, Abe, Fortuna, CA, Luke Garnaas and his wife, Rachel, Des Moines, IA, Adam Garnaas and his wife, Blair, Los Angeles, CA; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Levorn and Emily Garnaas

2:00PM Wednesday, May 31st, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Sioux Falls.
