Donald “Donnie” Hagemeister, 82, of Carrington, ND, died peacefully from cancer at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, on Monday, January 19, 2015.

Donald John Hagemeister was born on August 21, 1932, at Harvey, ND, to Ernest and Sarah (Haedt) Hagemeister. He started school at Manfred, ND, and then graduating from Cathay, ND, as salutatorian of his class. He started farming while still in high school with his dad. He finished his last harvest in 2014.

Donald was united in marriage to Bertha Pepple on June 28, 1964, in the Baptist Church of Cathay, ND. They continued farming on the family farm until his death.

Donald served on the boards of the Federated Church, Woodward Township and Rural Water. Donald was a member of the Methodist Church of Cathay, ND, and the Federated Church of Carrington, ND.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing pinochle, reading and watching TV.

Donald is survived by his wife, Bertha; sons Darwin (Tammie) Hagemeister of Cathay, ND,and Paul (Kara) Hagemeister of Horace, ND, 4 grandchildren; Randy, Emily, Lynzee, and Ethan; one brother Jerry (Mary Lou) of Fessenden ND, two sisters Muriel (Donald) Marchus of Fessenden, Margaret Walz  of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant grandchildren, Matthew and Amelia; his brother & sister-in-law Morris and Beth Hagemeister, sister and brother-in-law Alice (Donald) Seibold, brother-in-law Bob Walz, sisters-in-law Loraine Hagemeister, Pat Kirkheide, and Linda Lenk.
