Selma Rose Hill

 

Selma Rose Hill, age 72, of Augusta, Georgia, formerly of Spirit Lake, ND, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta.

Selma Rose Martin was born June 9, 1944, at Fort Totten, ND, the daughter of Bill and Mary (Belgarde) Martin.  She grew up and attended school at Fort Totten.

Selma was united in marriage in the mid 1960’s to John Phillip Hill, Sr. in Hawaii, while he was serving in the US Armed Services.  They moved to Rockford, Illinois and two children were born to them, John Phillip Jr, and Roseanne.    John Phillip Sr. died in 2003, and Roseanne died in 2006.   Selma later moved to Augusta, Georgia to be near her son.

While living in Rockford, Illinois, Selma had worked for Clinton Electronics for 14 years, and at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

She enjoyed animals, and had two cats and two dogs.   She collected lighthouses as a hobby, and would also sew various items for sale to people.

Selma is survived by her son Phil, Augusta, GA; two sisters, Geraldine “Geri” Nelson of Machesney Park, Illinois and Ramona Richter of Sisseton, SD; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, her parents, one brother Mike Johnson, and three sisters, Ruth Cavanaugh, Rosella Hook and Irene Ortney.
