Leona Hogie, age 79, of Carrington, ND, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Golden Acres Manor of Carrington.

Leona Kunz was born September 10, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Osmond) Kunz. She grew up in the Sykeston area and attended country school and later obtained her GED.

Leona was united in marriage to Robert Hogie on August 10, 1963, in Aberdeen, SD. From their marriage they had 8 children. Robert died March 7, 2000.

Leona was always there for her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her grandkids. She loved to go sight-seeing, and traveling. She also enjoyed shopping playing cards and an occasional trip to the casino.

She is survived by three sons Terry (Irama) Sampson, Venezuela, Gary Sampson, Yankton, SD, Robie Hogie, Bismarck, four daughters Toni (Tom) Marcotte, Sykeston, Bobbi Hoppe, Sioux Center, IA, Vickie Scheen and Brenda (Jeff) Prosser both of Carrington; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers Robert (Judy) Kunz, Bull Head City, AZ, Charles (Connie) Kunz, Fessenden, two sisters Bonnie Rambolt, and Irene Seil, both of Fargo, sister-in-law Eunice Kunz, New Rockford; along with many nieces and nephews.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband Robert; one infant daughter Tina Marie Hogie;  one grandson Josh Scheen; two brothers Lawrence (Evelyn) Kunz and  Gordon Kunz; one sister Alice Kunz; son-in-law Kevin.
