Darlene Ingwaldson

Darlene Ingwaldson, age 68, of New Rockford, ND, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at CHI St. Alexius Carrington, Carrington, ND.

Darlene Lou Simonson was born October 31, 1947, at Bremen, ND, the daughter of Alvin and Lillian (Frosaker) Simonson. She graduated from New Rockford High School in 1965, and then attended Wahpeton Business School to become a secretary.  In 1966, Darlene moved to California to live with her sister, Judy.

 

On May 8, 1967, Darlene was united in marriage to Gary Ingwaldson in Tacoma, Washington. She continued to live with her sister while Gary was stationed with the US Army in Vietnam.  He was discharged in April of 1969, and they moved to Tacoma for a year. Darlene and Gary then returned to New Rockford where they raised their family.

Darlene had worked many years at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, followed by her time working in the Meat Department of Hagen’s Super Valu, both of New Rockford. She retired early, at the age of 55.  Gary Ingwaldson died June 8, 2013.

Darlene loved riding horses, and had a passion for working in her garden. She enjoyed the outdoors, and cherished the time she was able to spend taking camping trips and fishing with her family.

Darlene is survived by her children, daughter, Lynn (Jorin) Johnson, and son, Jeff Ingwaldson, both of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Isabel Johnson, Olivia Johnson and Madison Ingwaldson; her siblings, Bob (Nora) Simonson, Vancouver, WA, Judy (Pat) Littlechild, Spokane, WA, Steve Simonson, Dickinson, ND, Marcy Blomquist, Hazen, ND, Rodney Simonson, Placentia, CA; sister-in-law & brother-in law, Sandy (Terry) Koepplin, New Rockford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, father, Alvin, mother, Lillian, step-father, Irving Olson, brother, Wilmer, and brother-in-law, Bill Blomquist.

Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford, ND
