Joann Frappier

Joann Frappier, age 79, of McHenry, ND,  died peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at home under the care of Mercy Home Health and Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joann Ella Taxdahl was born to Hartvick and Violet (Feske) Taxdahl on April 26, 1933, in Cooperstown, ND. Several of her formative years were spent in the care of Dr. H. O. and Etta Helmer. She graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1950, and ventured to Omaha, NE, to attend Van Sant School of Business.  Following graduation, she moved to Bartlesville, OK, and began working at Phillips Petroleum Company.

She returned to Cooperstown and married Alfred Frappier of McHenry, ND on November 7, 1954 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Shortly after, they purchased a farm outside McHenry and began a journey of 57 wonderful years together.

Joann was a friend to all and her home was a welcoming haven in the heart of God’s country.   She loved to cook and entertain on the farm.  Visiting with her many friends over a cup of coffee was her life’s delight.   Many will treasure the memory of Joann running down the sidewalk to greet her latest visitors.  Her greatest love was her family, and she looked forward to every kind of family gathering.  She relished her grandchildren’s sporting events, hosted nearly all holidays, and embraced every minute of the annual Frappier Family Funfest!  Joann will be remembered for her kindness, her contagious enthusiasm, her constant smile, and her most endearing quality: her love of everyone.

Mourning her loss are the loved ones she left behind: her dear husband of 57 years, Alfred;  5 sons John (Wendy), Tom (Nicki), Skip, and Kaylin (Terri), all of  Fargo, Kyle (Jeanne) McHenry, one daughter  Kolette (Dan) Trottier, Bismarck; grandchildren Chantel Frappier (Jim Clapp), Kayla and Zachary Frappier, Kallie, Klay and McKenna Frappier, Sophie Frappier, Sydney, Jackson, Kade and Reece Trottier; and great-grandchildren Jude and Pierce Clapp. She is also survived by two brothers, Jack (Joyce) Taxdahl of Sutton, ND, and Milo (Zella) Taxdahl of Fargo, ND.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and John Boschee

Joann’s family suggests memorials be given to Mercy Home Health and Hospice in Carrington ND.

Message: I happened to run into Loren Frappier over the weekend and was incredibly shocked to hear of Joann's passing. I can't believe nobody contacted any of us.
I remember all the good times when we came to visit every summer. I remember the kick-the-can nights, the mini bike escapades, the motorcycle rides, lots of ballgames seen by me at Red Willow. All the kids weddings (I went to every one of them) and wouldn't have missed any of them for the world.
Joann was like a second Mom to me--I have mailed her Mother's Day Cards like clockwork (except this year)--I truly feel bad about missing this past Mother's Day.
Joann had a smile on her face and a laugh to go with it.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Your Mom did a fantastic job of raising each and every one of you kids.
I know she also took great care of all the the grandchildren and great grandchildren also.
Alf, I know she looked after you too. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
I will truly miss her and grieve. Hope all is well with all of you.
Love
Lori Bartz and Dave

Message: We extend our sincere sympathy to Alf and family. We had gone to Duluth for a wedding leaving on Thursday and returning late Sunday evening. We felt so badly that we did not read the paper early enough to know of the funeral this morning. We have had such fond memories of the Frappier family and of Joanne. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with all of you. She was such a lovely lady and always with a smile and time to say hello. Please know we are thinking about you during this very difficult time.

Message: My prayerful condolences to Alfred and Frappier Family. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of your loved one, Joann.  I met the Frappier Family in North Dakota while you were on a family vacation more than 25 years ago.  Later, I met Skip while he lived in Bismarck. You impressed me with your closeness as a family and cheerful spirit.  May Joann rest in peace, and may the Lord grant her loved ones comfort and consolation.

Message: A great lady is at peace.  All the things I saw in Joann I also see in her grandchildren I have taught. The smile, love of family, and a genuine heart to care for all people.  She has passed those qualities on to her family and even though she is gone we will see her everyday in the eyes of her family.
