John Hoppe, Sr.
John Hoppe Sr., age 77, of Carrington, ND, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.
John Robert Hoppe was born on March 30, 1934, the son of Paul and Margaret (Wobbema) Hoppe Sr. in Carrington. He was raised and attended school in Carrington. John worked construction with his father. On September 20, 1952, John was united in marriage to Yvonne Gross in Grand Rapids, MN. In 1963, he began his own construction company in Carrington. In 1985, John sold the company to his son, Doug. From 1990 to 2000, he had a fur business and also bought and sold antique tractors and farm toys. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, rock collecting, trap shooting, collecting antique tractors and farm toys. John is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Carrington; three daughters, Vicky (Ty) Edelman, Glendive, MT, Karen (Rick) Rudolph, Beulah, ND, and Pam (Mike) Dillenger, Yakima, WA; one son, Doug (Florinda) Hoppe, Sioux Center, IA; two daughters-in-law, Deb (Wes) Leapaldt, Woodworth, ND and Bobbi Hoppe, Sioux Center, IA;15 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Marge (Clarence) Frappier, McHenry, ND, Linda Olsen, Cokato, MN, and Liz (Darrel) Anderson, Sheyenne, ND; 3 brothers, Jim Hoppe, Apache Junction, AZ, Paul (Barb) Hoppe Jr. and Chuck (Max) Hoppe, both of Carrington; and a brother-in-law, Gene Tishchleder, Cokato, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Hoppe Sr.; two sons and an infant daughter, John Jr., Kevin, and Sandra Kay; and a sister, Violet Tischleder.
