Ann Johnson, age 87, of New Rockford, ND, formerly of Sheyenne, ND, died on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.

Ann Stefek, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Slezak) Stefek, was born October 11, 1929, in Toronto, Canada. The family moved to Chicago, IL, in 1934, and then to the Bronx, NY, in 1936. In 1947, Ann married George Porubski of Windsor, NJ. In 1963, she began working for the McGraw Hill company in Hightstown, NJ, where she remained until 1971. George passed away in 1969.

Ann met Orville Johnson and they were married on September 4, 1971, in Trenton, NJ. The couple moved to Orville’s hometown of Sheyenne, ND, shortly after their wedding. Ann was a devoted member of the Eden Lutheran Church and, later, the Grandfield Lutheran Church. She was a long-time member of the Sheyenne VFW Auxiliary.  Ann always lent a helping hand to those in need, and extended a listening ear with a caring heart. In 2011, Ann and Orville moved to the Heritage House in New Rockford. Orville passed away in 2013, and Ann entered Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd on August 29, 2016.

Ann enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, George (Sue) Porubski, East Windsor, NJ, and Randy (Karen) Porubski, Robbinsville, NJ; 4 grandchildren, Sheri (Tim), Katie (Mike), Georgie, and Lauren; and 2 great-grandsons, Coben and Andrew.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville, her first husband, George, sister-in-law, Laura Daugherty, and brother-in-law, Arnie Johnson.
