Clyde Johnson
Clyde Rodney Johnson, 84 peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 5th 2016, at his home in Carrington, ND. He was born June 2, 1932, on the family farm near Bowdon, ND, the son of Melvin and Ethel Johnson. Clyde worked his entire life as a proud farmer and used his talents of butchering and carpentry to support his family. He always said there weren’t enough hours in the day to get his work done. After graduating in 1950 from Bowdon, he attended Vo-tech school in Wahpeton, and then returned to the family farm. On January 20, 1956, Clyde married Judith Ann Hewitt in Bowdon, ND. They retired in 1997, and moved to Carrington, ND, but many trips were made to the farm to check on crops and to feel the wind blow. The farm was always home. They spent numerous winters in Las Vegas, NV. Clyde loved to visit with people and took such an interest in everybody. His vacations were spent visiting his children and grandchildren and he loved when they returned home. He was a proud, honest, and hardworking farmer. There wasn’t a thing he couldn’t figure out, even though sometimes he had to sleep on it. He loved spending time with family and always said that his grandkids and great grandkids were the best medicine. He was a giant man with a teddy bear heart, contagious chuckle, and a banter for all. He loved to go to the casino, play cards, share a beer, have coffee with his friends, and shoot the bull with anyone who was around. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Clyde is survived by his wife of 60 years Judith; his children Jey (Dawn) Johnson of San Tan Valley, AZ, Deatte (John) Engelhardt of Las Vegas, NV and Susan (Bill) Conway of Austin, MN; four grandchildren Bridget, Brandy, Cameron, and Sydney; four great grandchildren Sophia, Hunter, Carsen, and Harper. Clyde is also survived by two sisters Lois Seibel, Denton, TX, Joyce McKee, Mesa, AZ, and his brother Loren, Lima, MT. Clyde was preceded in death by his son, Cameron; brothers Marvin and Duane, sisters Donna Johnson and Verna Bovy, and his parents.
