Donald "Don" Klocke

Donald “Don” Klocke, age 82, of Carrington, ND, died September 24, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington.

Donald John was born on December 21, 1934, the oldest son of John and Ione (Hillstrom) Klocke. He grew up in New Rockford and attended school through the 8th grade.

Don was united in marriage to Mary Kay Rohrer on November 29, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Carrington. From their beautiful marriage of 57 years they were blessed with four children, Peggy, Patti, Tamra and DJ.

He was a carpenter- a true craftsman; Don could build anything and everything. Don spent many hours in his shop honing his skills to create masterpieces, a trade that he proudly handed down to his son DJ. Don and Mary Kay spent several years down in Arizona before returning back to Carrington in the early 90’s. Upon returning to Carrington Don continued carpentry until his health prevented him from working on the jobsites although he continued woodworking until the end.  Don took his 1st great-grandson Keaton under his wing showing him how to use the tools of the trade and the knowledge of a lifetime.

He enjoyed traveling with his family throughout the U.S. and Mexico. They took many trips through the years giving all the children cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Don had an eye for classy things in life, from the cars that he owned to the things that he built.

Don is survived by three daughters, Peggy (Keith) Larson, Carrington, Patti (Danny) Angeles, Valley City, ND, Tamra (Rex) Kriedeman, Enderlin, ND; one son, DJ (Peggy) Klocke, Carrington; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, four brothers Jerry (Berty) Klocke, Carrington, Jim (Gayle) Klocke, Placentia, CA, Bill (Pam) Klocke, Mesa, AZ, Tom Klocke, Carrington, two sisters Linda (Harlan) Olson, Carrington, and Susan (Joel) Heiden, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law Janice Klocke, Henderson, NV, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Mary Kay on September 26, 2015, his parents, and his brother Larry.
