Alfred Klumph
Alfred Klumph, age 87, of rural New Rockford, ND, died at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Alfred Jacob Klumph was born on June 8, 1929, in Munster township of Eddy County to Howard and Dorothy (Taverna) Klumph. He attended country school in Munster Township and also at New Rockford High School. After finishing school, he farmed with his father and took over the farm after his father retired. Alfred was united in marriage to Gail Backman on September 11, 1994, at First Congregational Church. He was proud of his family heritage and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Alfred wrote many articles for publication in fishing and hunting magazines, including Outdoor Life. He enjoyed flying, and had his pilot’s license. Alfred was a member of First Congregational Church in New Rockford where he faithfully served the Lord in many ways. He was also a member of Gideons International. He served as township clerk, and was on the elevator board. He also was on the Community Credit Union board and had served on the Supervisory Committee for many years. He is survived by his wife Gail; one sister Joyce Hovland, Fargo, ND, and many nieces and nephews. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Alberta Irmen, Lucille Myhre, and Ethel Myhre.
