Elmer E. Kosse
Elmer E. Kosse, 94, Carrington, ND passed away on April 19, 2017 at Golden Acres Manor surrounded by his family. He was born on August 24, 1922 in Berlin, ND to August and Bernadine (Schroeder) Kosse. He attended rural school in Dickey and graduated from St. James Academy in Jamestown. He farmed with his father followed by a career of 33 years with the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Foster County. On June 18, 1946 he was united in marriage to Gloria Peterson. They made their home in Carrington, ND. Family was Elmer’s main focus and he enjoyed the time he could spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golf, traveling, and dancing. He and Gloria could clear any dancefloor with their special moves. Elmer was very involved in the Foster County Wildlife Club and the Carrington Park Board. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree Knight. He was also a member of the Elks and Eagles Clubs along with the Carrington Golf Club. He is survived by his wife Gloria of 71 years; children; Diann Cardenas of Cleburne, TX; Linda (Terry) Gisvold of Washburn, ND; Keith (Dori) of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Chad (Leslie) Motschenbacher of Tyler, TX; Leah (Mitch) Kuhn of Mandan, ND; Erick (Christina) Gisvold of Mandan, ND; Megan Kosse (Dan Pearson) of Bloomington, MN; Libby (Shaun) Parsons of Fargo, ND; greatgrandchildren: Kailey, Luke, Sadie, Kade, Addison, Rowan, sister Gladys Koke, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Message: My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to the Kosse families! I really enjoyed working with Elmer during my years working with the SCD. He was an inspiration and I had learned a lot from him on planting and taking care of trees. I never planted as many as Elmer did, over a million easily for him!
